Considerations for future telehealth

Kia ora, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Fakaalofa lahi atu

Welcome to the Aotearoa/New Zealand health consumer survey about video and phone appointments with general practice doctors and nurses.

You are invited to complete a survey about consumers’ video and phone use in general practice, by sharing your experiences and ideas about using telehealth. Your answers will help to improve the way that telehealth is used in the future. No personal health information is sought.

What is this research about and what will it involve?

Since the Covid–19 lockdown (started on 23 March 2020), there has been a significant change to how you could see your doctor or nurse, with phone or video calls for consultations becoming the main method (in alert levels 3 and 4). This research aims to answer the question, “What is the consumer experience of telehealth and how can this mode of care delivery be sustained over time?” We invite doctors and nurses and those who see doctors and nurses in general practices (or clinics or family healthcare centres) to complete a survey about their experiences.

We are seeking information from you about how video and phone calls at the general practice or clinic have worked out for you since the Covid–19 lockdown started until now. With the information you give us we will better understand what has worked well and what can be improved. This gives us real experiences to help guide services and government about the way things should work to get the best outcomes for consumers and whanau.

Your participation in this research involves completing a survey, which should take less than 20 minutes, and does not need to be completed in one sitting. Completion of the survey may involve data charges on your device (phone, tablet, desk top computer or laptop), depending on how you access it. You are welcome to include your whanau when completing the survey.
