Thanks

I’m thankful for little things
The joyful whoop-whoop of a child
When I’m shopping at Pak n Save
Sunlight sparkling in droplets
On flowers after the rain

The wingful whuff-whuff of wood pigeons
Outside my bedroom window
On a Sunday afternoon
Falling into the melody of a good song on the radio
Hearing music in the lilt of a language I don’t know

Full luscious fruit falling off my feijoa tree
And a gift of grapes
From my man’s closely guarded vine
I’m thankful for little things
They warm my heart
Make my toes tingle
And I feel lucky
